Nigeria and US Strengthen Military Technology Ties

Nigeria is working to deepen its defense cooperation with the United States, focusing on military technology, intelligence, and technical capacity to bolster its counter-terrorism efforts and modernize the Armed Forces. This initiative was highlighted during the Defence Minister General Christopher Musa's engagement in Washington, D.C.

Discussions emphasized Nigeria's need for U.S. technological support, particularly in advanced drone capabilities and satellite intelligence. General Musa, during his visit to the Nigerian Embassy, underscored that Nigeria's defense partnerships would prioritize national sovereignty while expanding strategic collaborations.

Ambassador Kayode Are expressed the Embassy's commitment to facilitating technical training and intelligence sharing. The talks also addressed the evolving security landscape in the Sahel, advocating for stronger regional security frameworks.

General Musa inspected the Embassy’s Defence Section, commending Defence Attaché Air Commodore Valentine Oreaki for supporting the Armed Forces' interests in the U.S. This engagement is part of a broader series of activities led by National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
