Last PDP Lawmaker in Sokoto Assembly Defects to ADC

Abdullahi Randa, the lawmaker representing the Tureta constituency, has officially defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This development was announced during a plenary session on Tuesday, where Speaker Tukur Bala read Randa's defection letter.

Randa cited ongoing internal problems within the PDP as a significant influence on his decision to leave, noting that the crisis within the party had long affected its operations. His exit follows a series of similar defections, as earlier in April, seven members of the assembly had left the PDP to join the ADC, while another lawmaker from the Shagari constituency switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

With Randa's departure, the composition of the Sokoto State House of Assembly has shifted, with the APC holding 22 members, the ADC having eight lawmakers, and the PDP no longer having any representation in the assembly.
