APC, NNPP, PDP Members Defect to ADC in Jigawa State

In a significant political shift, members from the All Progressives Congress (APC), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State. The mass defection was led by former Senator Sabo Nakudu, who received a warm welcome from ADC leaders during a gathering in the state capital.

Nakudu, a two-term senator representing Jigawa South West, announced his resignation from the APC on Friday before joining the ADC. He emphasized his commitment to work towards a better Jigawa and is expected to contest against Governor Umar Namadi in the 2023 APC governorship primaries, aiming to run on the ADC platform in 2027.

Ahmad Gumel, the ADC coordinator in Jigawa, welcomed Nakudu and highlighted the defection as a boost for the party. In response, PDP's Umar Kyari dismissed the defections as politically motivated, while APC spokesperson Bashir Kundu downplayed the significance, suggesting the defectors were pursuing personal interests rather than public good.
