Kwankwaso Joins ADC, Aims to Free Nigeria from APC

On October 25, 2023, former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso announced his official membership in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), vowing to free Nigeria from the perceived misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC). During a ceremony attended by a large crowd, Kwankwaso urged his supporters to ensure they register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and collect their ADC membership cards.

He criticized the APC for its alleged misgovernance, economic hardship, and insecurity, calling for a united opposition to safeguard Nigeria's democratic process. Kwankwaso's son, Mustapha Kwankwaso, also left the NNPP to join the ADC, marking a significant shift in the political landscape.

David Mark, the ADC's national chairman, described Kwankwaso's move as pivotal for Nigeria's democratic development and emphasized the need for a competitive political system. This transition follows a period of negotiations between Kwankwaso and the APC that ultimately failed due to mutual distrust and irreconcilable demands.
