Kwankwaso Joins ADC, Reshaping Nigeria's Political Scene

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State and a presidential candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This move signals a major shift in Nigeria's political landscape as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.

Kwankwaso received his party membership card during a ceremony held at the Gidan Kwankwasiyya on Miller Road, Bompai, Kano. The event was attended by prominent political figures, including former Senate President David Mark, Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Senator Dino Melaye, and former APC National Chairman John Odigi Oyegun.

Kwankwaso's transition comes after a turbulent period for the NNPP, which has seen a decline in political influence and defections of key leaders, including the current Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to the APC. His alignment with the ADC is expected to provide a credible opposition to the dominant APC and PDP in the region.
