Finidi George Blames Defending for Rivers United's Loss

Finidi George, the technical adviser of Rivers United, criticized his team's poor defending and a lapse in concentration following their 2-1 defeat to Bendel Insurance in the Nigeria Premier Football League on October 25. The match took place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, marking Rivers United's first league defeat of the season.

Bendel Insurance took the lead with a goal from Freeman Wuchirwe just three minutes into the second half. Rivers United equalized through Chijioke Mbaoma with 17 minutes left, but Jonathan James scored a stoppage-time goal, securing victory for the hosts.

Finidi expressed disappointment over his players' decision-making in the closing moments, particularly their failure to manage a crucial moment that led to the winning goal. The defeat hindered Rivers United's efforts to maintain their top position in the NPFL table.

They will aim to recover when they host defending champions Rangers International at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
