Former Nigerian champion Finidi George has called for squad reinforcement for Rivers United after their disappointing exit from the CAF Champions League. The team's campaign ended in elimination from the group stage following a heavy home defeat by Egypt's Pyramid FC.

Rivers United, sitting at the bottom of the group with just one point, have lost four games, drawn one, conceded ten goals, and scored twice. Despite taking an early lead through Stephen Manu, Rivers United were overwhelmed in the second half by the Egyptian side, who scored four unanswered goals.

Finidi George emphasized the need to strengthen the squad to compete effectively in future continental competitions. He dismissed claims of unluckiness, insisting that Pyramid FC deserved their victory.

Rivers United's Champions League run included defeats to Pyramid in Cairo and RS Berkane in Morocco, with a goalless draw away to Power Dynamo in Zambia. The team will conclude their group campaign with a trip to Morocco to face RS Berkane.
