Finidi George Confident in NPFL Title Race Despite Loss

Finidi George, the coach of Rivers United, expressed confidence in his team's pursuit of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title despite a recent setback. Rivers United suffered a 1-0 defeat against Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium, where captain Templ Emekayi inadvertently scored an own goal in the 12th minute.

This loss resulted in Rivers United dropping to second place in the league standings, although they have three outstanding fixtures. Meanwhile, Rangers International FC capitalized on Rivers United's slip by defeating Nasarawa United FC 2-0, moving to the top of the NPFL table.

In a separate match, Bendel Insurance FC delivered an impressive performance, thrashing Ikorodu City FC 4-0 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, with Alex Oweilayefa scoring a hat trick. Despite the heavy loss, Ikorodu City FC's coach Bright Ozebagb noted that his team remains third in the standings with 45 points from 28 matches, keeping them in contention for the title.
