Fire Destroys Eight Shops in Ibadan, Oyo State

On June 3, 2026, at approximately 02:33 hours, a fire broke out at eight shops located at No. 2 Mobolorunduro Balaro Street, Oju Odo Academy, Ibadan, Oyo State. The Oyo State Fire Service Agency, under the leadership of Chairman Moroof Akinwand, was alerted by a telephone call from Mr.

Idri regarding the incident. Fire personnel, led by PFS11 Ojo, promptly mobilized to the scene.

Upon arrival, they discovered that eight out of eleven shops were severely affected by the fire. The fire was swiftly contained, preventing further spread to nearby properties.

No casualties were reported, and the fire personnel returned to the station safely by 04:29 hours. Akinwand urged the public to be aware of fire safety and the importance of installing fire extinguishers in commercial buildings to prevent fire incidents at their incipient stages.

This incident follows previous fire outbreaks in the area, including one in September 2025 that destroyed 14 shops at Ogundip Market.
