Gombe Media Corporation Fire Destroys Property, No Casualties

On Saturday at approximately 3:50 PM, a fire broke out at the Gombe Media Corporation, affecting various sections including the old television studio, maintenance area, radio library, News Director’s office, and the hostel for NYSC members. Personnel from both state and federal fire services responded to control the blaze.

Malam Ibrahim Isa, the Director-General of GMC, and Isma’ila Uba Misilli, the Director-General of Press Affairs to the Gombe State Government, were present at the scene along with staff and members of the public. Fortunately, no lives were lost, although some individuals sustained minor injuries while attempting to salvage belongings and assist in the emergency response.

Affected NYSC members, including Farida Tahir, Esther Daniel, and Nasiru Joshua, reported the loss of valuable items such as laptops and important credentials. Irmiya Maiguwa, a television cameraman and News Department artist, was among those injured while helping to contain the fire.

Staff members called for improved fire safety arrangements and emergency response facilities.
