Fire Outbreak in Ilorin Suspected to be Arson

On Saturday, around 1:07 PM, a fire outbreak suspected to be arson gutted a room in a three-bedroom apartment located at C76, Iluteju Community, Irewolede area of Ilorin, Kwara State. The Kwara State Fire Service responded promptly and contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building.

Hassan Adekunle, the Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Fire Service, stated that the suspicion of arson arose from information gathered from sympathisers and community members present at the scene. The affected room was the only one in the building furnished with furniture, while the other rooms were empty.

The building had been disconnected from electricity, ruling out power supply as a potential ignition source. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the appropriate authorities.

Chief Fire Officer Muhammed Alabi commended the firefighters for their swift action and urged the public to report any suspicious activities that could lead to fire outbreaks.
