Fire Outbreak in Ilorin Destroys Laundry Shop, No Injuries

Early on Tuesday, at approximately 3:58 AM, a fire broke out in a laundry shop attached to an eight-room residential building in the Assu Luxuri Quarter off University Road, Tank Area, Ilorin, Kwara State. Residents managed to escape unharmed, and the Kwara State Fire Service responded promptly, containing the blaze by 4:25 AM and concluding operations by 4:42 AM.

The fire affected the laundry shop and the adjoining residential property. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by an electrical power surge from a press iron that was left switched on for an extended period.

Alabi Muham, the Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, urged business owners, particularly those operating laundry services, to adopt safer electrical practices and ensure that electrical appliances are switched off when unattended. The fire service reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and emphasized the importance of routine electrical inspections.
