Fire Breaks Out at Federal Ministry of Science and Technology

A fire broke out in Section C of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology located in the Federal Secretariat, Phase 2, on Monday morning. The blaze severely affected the offices, with remnants left unsalvaged.

Federal firefighters from the nearby Asokoro were mobilized to the scene. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, although it is suspected to have been triggered by a surge in power supply.

Thick smoke was visible throughout the Central Business District, disrupting traffic as security agents diverted vehicles. Workers in the building were evacuated, with reports indicating that some attempted to escape via stairways.

During the emergency response, fire service personnel suffered severe burns and were subsequently hospitalized. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the head of the Civil Service Federation, confirmed the incident and emphasized the importance of adhering to safety measures in public offices.

Fortunately, there were no casualties, and a comprehensive investigation is anticipated to assess the situation.
