Lagos Airport Old Terminal to be Demolished After Fire

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Keyamo, announced that the old terminal at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos will be demolished after a fire outbreak on Monday. The fire, which began around 3:00 PM and was contained by 7:00 PM, caused extensive damage to the terminal but fortunately did not result in any fatalities.

At least six individuals were hospitalized due to the incident, and they are currently receiving treatment at health facilities in Lagos. Keyamo confirmed that the terminal will be refurbished, and operations will temporarily shift to a different terminal for several airlines.

The fire disrupted operations at the airport, leading to travel delays and uncertainty across various airlines. The incident triggered a massive multi-agency emergency response to combat the fire, which engulfed Terminal 1 of the airport.
