Fire Destroys Fika Main Market in Yobe State, Traders Affected

A devastating fire broke out at the Fika main market in Yobe State, resulting in extensive damage to shops and stalls, leaving traders to assess their losses. Dr.

Moham Goje, the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, confirmed that emergency response teams were promptly deployed to the scene to contain the fire and prevent further destruction. The agency received a distress report regarding the fire outbreak and collaborated with the fire service to extinguish the flames.

Goje described the incident as heartbreaking and noted that the agency would review the situation to finalize plans to support the victims. This incident follows a previous fire outbreak in Bukarti that affected three communities, highlighting a troubling trend of recurrent fire incidents in the state.

Goje urged the government, institutions, and individuals to enforce critical fire safety measures, particularly in markets and public spaces, and called on residents to remain vigilant and prioritize safety.
