Fire Destroys Shops at Fika Main Market in Yobe State

A significant fire outbreak occurred at the Fika main market in Yobe State, resulting in extensive damage to numerous shops and stalls, leaving traders to assess their losses. Dr.

Moham Goje, the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), confirmed the incident and stated that emergency response teams were promptly deployed to the scene to contain the fire and prevent further destruction. Goje described the incident as heartbreaking and noted that the agency would review reports to finalize plans to support the victims.

He expressed concern over the recent trend of fire outbreaks in the state, calling it a serious wake-up call for the government and individuals to enforce critical fire safety measures, particularly in markets and public spaces. Goje urged residents to remain vigilant and prioritize safety, as the loss of shelter and livelihood has caused significant emotional and economic shock.
