Allgreen Energi NV Invests $10B for Clean Cookstoves in Nigeria

Allgreen Energi NV, in collaboration with Greenplinth Africa, has announced a significant investment of $10 billion to deliver 24 million clean cookstoves in Nigeria within the next 18 months. This initiative is part of a broader goal to support an 80 million clean cookstove project aimed at transforming cooking practices in Nigeria.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Olawal Akinwumi, the CEO of Greenplinth Africa, and representatives from Allgreen Energi NV.

The project is designed to combat the adverse health and environmental impacts associated with traditional cooking methods, which contribute to indoor air pollution and deforestation. The clean cookstoves will be provided free of charge, along with briquette fuel, significantly benefiting millions of Nigerians, particularly women and children who are disproportionately affected by traditional cooking practices.

Titilayo Oshodi, Special Adviser on Climate Change and Circular Economy for the Lagos State Governor, emphasized the importance of equitable access to clean cooking solutions as part of broader climate justice and economic transformation efforts.
