First Lady Tinubu Launches N2bn Education Support Program

On October 12, 2026, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, announced a N2bn Learners Retention Support Programme aimed at keeping 100,000 pupils in school. Each beneficiary will receive N20,000 to help overcome financial barriers to education.
This announcement was made at the National Flag-off of the Distribution of Two Million Packs of Sanitary Towels and Back-to-school Learning Materials to Girls in Public Basic Education Schools in Abuja, coinciding with the International Day of the Girl Child 2026. The initiative, named Flow with Confidence 2.0, is implemented by the Universal Basic Education Commission and builds on a previous initiative launched on October 2, 2025, which provided sanitary pads to 370,000 schoolgirls.
Mrs Tinubu urged state First Ladies and education officials to ensure transparency in the distribution of materials and called on community leaders to support girls' education. Dr Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, pledged to institutionalize menstrual hygiene support in basic education interventions.
