Oluremi Tinubu Launches N2bn Education Support Initiative

On October 13, Oluremi Tinubu announced the launch of a N2 billion Learners Retention Support Programme aimed at improving educational access for girls in Nigeria. During the flag-off ceremony at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, she declared that no Nigerian girl should be denied education due to menstrual hygiene challenges or financial constraints.
The programme will benefit 100,000 pupils, each receiving N20,000 to alleviate financial barriers to school attendance. Additionally, two million packs of sanitary towels will be distributed to girls in public basic schools across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
This initiative builds on the previous Flow with Confidence initiative launched on October 2, 2025, which provided a year's supply of sanitary pads to 370,000 schoolgirls in rural areas. The current phase, Flow with Confidence 2.0, is being implemented by the Universal Basic Education Commission.
Education Minister Dr Tunji Alausa stated that UBEC would include sanitary towels in its annual budgets, while UBEC Executive Secretary Aisha Garba noted the distribution of other educational materials alongside the sanitary towels.
