‘Fishing Expedition From Old Phantom Case’ – PDP Knocks EFCC Over Tambuwal’s Detention

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for detaining former Speaker of the House of Representatives and current Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal. The EFCC invited Tambuwal over alleged financial misconduct during his tenure as Speaker.

The Sokoto PDP labeled Tambuwal's arrest as a politically motivated attempt to silence opposition voices. They accused the EFCC of conducting a "fishing expedition" to revive old cases and intimidate political opponents.

The PDP claimed that the arrest was part of a broader plan by the ruling government to weaken the growing opposition. The party defended Tambuwal's integrity, stating that his administration was known for fiscal discipline and transparency.

The PDP called on the EFCC to be impartial and focus on genuine corruption cases, urging supporters to demand democracy and good governance.
