Zamfara Ambush: Five Soldiers Killed, Army Reports Major Breakthrough

Five soldiers were killed in an ambush in Zamfara, as reported by the Nigerian Army. The incident occurred on Monday while troops were escorting a trader to Gusau market.

Army spokesperson Capt David Adewusi stated that the troops from 1 Brigade Forward Operating Base Lilo village came under heavy fire during a patrol. This ambush was part of the broader confrontation under Operation Fansan Yamma.

The Army recently made significant progress in intercepting terrorist logistics, recovering ransom money, and neutralizing several terrorists. The operation covered areas across Shinkafi, Gusau, Bukkuyum, and Tureta LGAs.

The Army reiterated its commitment to eradicating terrorism and banditry, urging the public to support security forces with credible information.
