Five Suspects Of Owo Church Massacre Arraigned, Plead Not Guilty

Five suspects, including Idris Omeiza, Al Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, Abdulhaleem Idris, Momoh Otuho, and Abubakar, were arraigned in court for their alleged involvement in the Owo church massacre. They pleaded not guilty to charges related to planning and carrying out a terrorist attack on Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State in June 2022.

The suspects were accused of being members of the Al Shabaab terrorist group and were charged under the Terrorism Prevention Prohibition Act. The attack resulted in the death of 40 worshippers and caused grievous bodily harm to over 100 individuals.

The court ordered the suspects to be remanded in custody and granted them access to their family and legal representation. The trial is set to commence as the investigation continues.
