Al-Shabab: ‘Granting Bail To Owo Church Attack Suspects Will Endanger Lives’ – DSS Warns

The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned that granting bail to the five suspects involved in the Owo Church attack could endanger lives. The suspects, including Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, Al Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, Abdulhaleem Idris, and Momoh Otuho Abubakar, were arraigned on nine counts related to terrorism.

The DSS argued that releasing the suspects could lead to witness intimidation and compromise the trial. The defense lawyer, Abdullahi Mohammad, argued for bail, stating that his clients were ready to present credible sureties and stand trial.

However, the prosecuting lawyer, Calistus Eze, urged the court to reject the bail application, citing ongoing threats to witnesses. The ruling on the bail application has been adjourned until September 10.
