Five Terrorists Arrested After Oyo Security Camp Attack

The Oyo State Government announced the arrest of five suspected terrorists following an attack on a security base along the Igbeti-Igboho Road in the Oke Ogun area on a Sunday morning. The attackers, who reportedly wore military uniforms, stormed the base operated by Operation Burst and made off with a generator and a motorcycle.

Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Monday, indicating that more arrests are anticipated. Acting Governor Bayo Lawal visited the attack site to assess the situation.

The opposition party, All Progressives Congress, criticized the state government's security measures, questioning the effectiveness of recently acquired surveillance aircraft. They expressed concern that the attackers operated for over an hour without being intercepted, suggesting that the government's claims about security surveillance were unsubstantiated.

The incident highlights ongoing security challenges in the South-West region, with calls for improved intelligence and rapid-response mechanisms.
