Five Suspected Terrorists Arrested After Oyo Military Attack

On Sunday, five suspected terrorists dressed in military uniforms were arrested following an attack on a military camp located on the outskirts of Igbeti in the Olorunsogo Local Government Area of Oyo State. The state’s deputy governor, Bartister Adebayo Lawal, made this announcement during a visit to the attack site, accompanied by the Commanding Officer of the 81 Battalion, Lt. Col. Innocent Asogwa.

According to a statement from the state Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the deputy governor indicated that more arrests are anticipated as military operations continue. At least 120 soldiers have been deployed to pursue the remaining terrorists.

The attack resulted in a fire that damaged an Operation Burst vehicle and camp structures, caused by grenade launchers used by the assailants. Lawal also mentioned that a newly acquired surveillance aircraft would assist in operations and reconnaissance.

An emergency committee has been established among five local government councils to support security personnel and coordinate with the state government for assistance.
