Oyo State Arrests Five Suspects After Military Base Attack

Five suspects have been arrested in relation to an attack by armed bandits on a military base located in the outskirts of Igbeti, within the Olorunsogo local government area of Oyo State. The Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, made this announcement in a statement on Tuesday following his visit to the military base alongside the state deputy governor, Adebayo Lawal.
During the visit, it was reported that at least five of the attackers were apprehended while wearing military uniforms, with additional arrests also made. Lt Col Innocent Asogwa, the Commanding Officer of the 81 Battalion, informed the commissioner that approximately 120 soldiers have been deployed into the bush to pursue the terrorists.
The attack resulted in a fire that damaged a building and a vehicle, caused by grenade launchers used by the assailants. Prince Oyelade also mentioned that a newly procured surveillance aircraft is being utilized for reconnaissance and operations.
An emergency committee has been established among five local government councils to support security personnel in the area.
