Flood hits Yobe after heavy rain, submerges buildings, displaces residents (PHOTOS)

A heavy downpour in Yobe State early on Friday led to severe flooding, submerging buildings and displacing hundreds of residents in several areas including Potiskum. The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) identified multiple affected areas and swiftly deployed a field team for rapid assessment and intervention.

While no loss of life was reported, SEMA Executive Secretary Mohammed Goje confirmed ongoing detailed assessments to provide immediate relief. Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni directed SEMA to offer urgent assistance to the affected communities, emphasizing the government's commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency had previously warned of heavy rainfall in the region, advising residents to take precautions. Government emergency services are actively working to mitigate the flood's impact and support those affected.
