Government Takes Action as Heavy Rainfall Floods Several Communities in Yobe

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has ordered immediate relief operations in communities affected by heavy rainfall and flooding. The State Emergency Management Agency confirmed receiving an emergency alert and deploying teams to assess the damage in areas such as Old Prison, Filin Mashe, and Unguwar Makafi.

The extent of property damage is still being determined, but the state government has assured affected households of assistance in the form of emergency shelter, food, and medical supplies. The federal government had earlier warned of heavy rainfall across 19 states, including Yobe, which could lead to flooding.

Governor Buni urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with emergency responders, emphasizing the government's commitment to disaster preparedness and timely intervention to protect lives and livelihoods. President Bola Tinubu also expressed sympathy for the recent flood disasters in Borno state.
