Osun State Faces Severe Flooding, Residents Demand Action

Torrential rainfall from Friday to Monday has caused significant flooding in several communities across Osun State, including Osogbo, Ijaregbe, and Ilesa. The flooding has resulted in property damage and the destruction of a bridge linking Ijaregbe to Ilesa, isolating the community.

Residents, including Akin Olugbodi and Shekinat Olaegbe, reported losses of valuables and expressed fears of further flooding due to blocked water channels. Oba Edward Adetimo, the Olomu of Ijaregbe, confirmed the bridge's damage and noted that local officials, including Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, visited to assess the situation.

The state government, represented by Mayowa Adejoorin, the Commissioner for Environment, acknowledged the flooding as a seasonal issue but assured that measures are in place to mitigate its effects. He emphasized that the situation has not reached an uncontrollable level due to proactive government actions.
