Flutterwave Launches Employee Share-Backed Loan Program

Flutterwave has launched a unique program enabling employees to borrow money against their vested shares without needing to sell them, in collaboration with Techdollar, a US private-credit startup. This initiative allows employees to access cash prior to a company sale or stock-market listing while retaining potential future gains on their equity.
Olugbenga “GB” Agboola, Flutterwave’s founder and CEO, stated that the company values its employees as integral to its success and believes they should benefit from the value they create without waiting for significant liquidity events. The loans, which will be available for six to twelve months, typically advance less than half the value of the shares.
If a borrower defaults, Techdollar can seize and sell the pledged shares. Employees will maintain their equity if they repay the loan but risk losing it otherwise.
The loans will be deposited into accounts opened with Nuvion, a Miami-based digital bank that supports Flutterwave's stablecoin products.
