Flying Eagles Aim for WAFU B Final Against Cote d’Ivoire

The Flying Eagles, Nigeria’s U20 football team, are set to face host nation Cote d’Ivoire in a semi-final match of the WAFU B tournament at Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro. The team finished as runners-up in Group B, having lost their last group game 0-2 to the Young Stallions of Burkina Faso.

In a previous encounter in 2024, the Flying Eagles defeated Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 in Lome, with goals from Clinton Jeptha and Kparobo Ariehi. Cote d’Ivoire enters this match with a perfect record, winning all their group games and scoring seven goals without conceding.

Following the defeat to Burkina Faso, Coach Abdu Maikaba is expected to make changes to the squad. A victory for the Flying Eagles will not only secure a place in the final on Sunday but also ensure qualification for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Ghana next year.
