Obi Supports Tinubu's Caution on Flyovers and Projects

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu's recent warning to state governors regarding the construction of unnecessary flyovers. Obi urged Tinubu to apply the same caution to projects undertaken by the Federal Government.

In a Facebook post, Obi stated that governments at all levels should prioritize the rehabilitation of existing infrastructure and the completion of ongoing projects before starting new ones that may be abandoned. He noted that Tinubu's advice aligns with his long-standing position that government spending should focus on projects that meet the immediate needs of citizens rather than on prestige developments.

Obi raised concerns about the Federal Government's pursuit of what he termed "white-elephant" projects amidst Nigeria's fiscal challenges, highlighting the poor condition of major highways. Drawing from his experience as the former governor of Anambra State, he emphasized that effective governance should prioritize the completion of viable projects to deliver tangible benefits to the populace.
