FMIST Boosts Federal-State Innovation Collaboration at PLASSTIFEST

At the PLASSTIFEST 2026 held in Plateau State, Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh SAN, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to strengthening collaboration with state governments to drive innovation-led economic growth.

He described science, technology, and innovation (STI) as critical pillars for achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Dr.

Udeh noted that Nigeria's aspiration to build a $1 trillion economy requires deliberate investment in research, innovation, and technology development across all levels of government. He emphasized the need for commercial research and innovation policies to ensure that research outcomes translate into tangible economic impacts.

The minister also called for the establishment of innovation-friendly institutions at the state level and highlighted ongoing efforts to create a National Research and Innovation Development Fund (NRIDF) to support research and commercialization activities nationwide. He commended Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for his commitment to innovation-driven development.
