Atiku's Aide Critiques Senate Over Abaribe's Defection

Atiku Abubakar's spokesperson, Paul Ib, criticized the Nigerian Senate for its focus on Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe's defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He accused the Senate leadership, led by Godswill Akpabio, of selectively invoking constitutional provisions regarding defections while ignoring similar situations involving members of the opposition.

Ib pointed out that Abaribe had already been suspended from the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) due to alleged anti-party activities and is no longer a member of APGA. He emphasized that the Senate should prioritize its legislative responsibilities rather than engage in political disputes, urging Akpabio to redirect efforts towards lawmaking that benefits Nigerians instead of serving the interests of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
