Rivers State Ex-Administrator Rejects Assembly's Probe, Calls It a "Fool's Errand"

Former Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibas retd, rejected the Rivers State House Assembly's probe into government spending during the emergency rule, calling it a "fool's errand." The Assembly sought to investigate the expenditure of the consolidated revenue fund and contract awards during Ibas' administration. Records show that Rivers State received billions in federal allocations, with half coming from the oil derivation fund.

Ibas argued that the Assembly lacked the authority to probe his tenure, emphasizing that he was not appointed or supervised by them. His aide, Hector Igbikiowubu, defended Ibas, stating that the probe was misplaced.

The Assembly had been on a break for a long time and was now resuming its functions.
