FORIJA Mourns Former Kogi Governor Ibrahim Idris's Death

The Forum of Igala Journalists (FORIJA) expressed deep shock and sadness over the death of former Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, who died in the United Kingdom on September 20, 2026, at the age of 77. In a condolence message signed by Secretary General Yusuf Akogu, FORIJA recognized Idris as a significant figure in Kogi politics and a proud son of Igala land.

Alhaji Ibrahim Idris served as Governor of Kogi State from 2003 to 2012, making notable contributions to the state's political and economic landscape. Prior to his political career, he was a successful businessman, founding Ibro Trading Company and Ibro Hotels.

As governor, he focused on infrastructural development, civil service reforms, and human capital development, fostering an inclusive leadership style that amplified the voice of the Igala nation. FORIJA conveyed condolences to Idris's family, the people of Kogi East, the Kogi State government, and the Peoples Democratic Party, describing his passing as a monumental loss.
