Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar Dies in Captivity

Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, a former Defence Spokesman, died in captivity after being abducted by bandits in Katsina State. The Katsina State Government announced his death in a statement issued on Saturday, detailing that despite relentless efforts by various security agencies to secure his release, he succumbed to complications arising from diabetes and hypertension while held by his abductors.

Dr. Nasiru Mu Azu, the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, described the incident as a tragic loss for both the state and the nation. Governor Dikko Umaru Radda referred to the event as a dark moment, highlighting the urgent need for unity and intensified efforts to combat criminal elements threatening peace and security in the community.

The governor reaffirmed the state’s commitment to collaborate with federal security agencies to ensure justice for the heinous act and to eliminate banditry, assuring citizens of Katsina State that their safety remains a priority.
