Former DSS Chief Discusses Rescue Tactics in Nigeria

Mohammed Ngosh, the former Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), asserted that the rescue tactics employed in Oyo State for abducted pupils and teachers cannot be effectively replicated in northern Nigeria. He explained that the circumstances surrounding abductions differ significantly across regions, particularly in states like Borno and Plateau, which face unique challenges such as political dynamics and retaliatory violence.

Ngosh addressed the issue of a trust deficit between the Nigerian populace and security agencies, urging citizens to support and cooperate with security forces. He noted that successful operations are difficult to achieve and require patience from the public.

Ngosh also mentioned that security operations are not conducted openly, as they must maintain confidentiality to be effective. He highlighted the need for improved intelligence and collaboration among communities to combat the ongoing kidnapping crisis, emphasizing that every security operation has its own dynamics and challenges.
