Kano's Gawuna Resigns from FMBN to Join ADC

Nasiru Gawuna, the former Deputy Governor of Kano State, has officially resigned from his role as chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). His resignation letter, dated March 27, 2026, states that the decision is in compliance with the electoral act and aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's directives for political appointees to step down ahead of future elections.

Gawuna expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve on the FMBN board, highlighting his tenure as a privilege that allowed him to contribute to the growth of the institution and support housing development in Nigeria. His resignation is interpreted as part of a broader political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, as he prepares to join forces with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State.
