Gawuna Joins ADC After Leaving APC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Gawuna, the former Deputy Governor of Kano State, officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday, registering at a ward location in Nasarawa Local Government Area. His transition from the All Progressives Congress (APC) comes as political dynamics shift in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Gawuna thanked the APC for the opportunities provided during his membership, as he submitted a resignation letter to the ward chairman on March 29, 2026. He also announced his resignation from his role as Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, effective March 31, 2026.

This move aligns with the requirements of the Electoral Act, which mandates political appointees to resign when seeking elective positions. Gawuna's decision reflects a broader trend of political realignment in Kano State, with notable figures like former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and party chairman Musa Ungogo present to support him.
