Uche Nnaji Arrested in Enugu Over Corruption Allegations

Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Science and Technology, was arrested on Wednesday at Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu while trying to board a private jet to Abuja. The arrest was executed by the Department of State Services (DSS) following a request from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

This action was part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of corruption linked to Nnaji's time in office. Sources indicate that the ICPC had previously invited Nnaji to appear for questioning regarding irregularities in the administration of the Ministry of Science and Technology, but he allegedly failed to honor these invitations.

Consequently, the ICPC sought the assistance of the DSS to ensure his appearance, leading to the arrest. Specific allegations against Nnaji have not been publicly disclosed, but the investigation is believed to focus on activities within the ministry during his tenure, which ended in October of the previous year.

Neither the DSS nor the ICPC has released an official statement regarding the arrest.
