NTEL Launches Affordable Internet Services in Nigeria

NATCOM Development and Investment Limited, operating as NTEL, is re-establishing its presence in Nigeria's telecommunications sector by launching WakaGo, a global eSIM service, and AirFibre, a wireless broadband solution. Kingsley Uwazie, NTEL's Chief Officer, announced these initiatives in an interview with Vanguard, stating that the company aims to provide affordable international connectivity and address the challenges of unreliable broadband services.
WakaGo allows users with compatible smartphones to access mobile data while retaining their existing SIM cards, operating on a pay-as-you-go model. Although NTEL has not disclosed specific subscription prices, the service is designed to be a cost-effective alternative to traditional roaming charges.
Additionally, AirFibre aims to tackle the high costs associated with connecting homes and offices to fibre-optic networks by using wireless technology to deliver speeds of up to 1.2 gigabits per second. Currently in trials in Lagos and Abuja, NTEL plans to expand AirFibre to Ibadan and Benin City, while also focusing on infrastructure sharing and extending coverage to underserved communities.
