Ex-NNPC Official Loses California Mansion in $2.1M Addax Bribery Case

Paulinus Okoronkwo, a former senior official of NNPC, has forfeited his luxury property in California after being convicted in the U.S. for accepting a $2.1 million bribe from Addax Petroleum. Okoronkwo, who later practiced law in Los Angeles, was found guilty of money laundering, tax evasion, and obstructing justice.

The bribe was disguised as a consulting fee to secure drilling rights in Nigeria. The court has approved the seizure of Okoronkwo's property in Valencia, California.

The U.S. government is inviting legitimate third parties to claim the property.
