Glide Media Foundation Demands Apology from Wike

The Glide Media Foundation has called for an unreserved apology from Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, over his alleged threat directed at journalist Seun Okinbaloy. Wike's comments were described as reckless and alarming, with the foundation's Executive Director, Arabinrin Aderonke Foundation, stressing that such rhetoric poses a direct affront to press freedom and democratic principles.

The foundation warned that allowing such comments to go unchecked could embolden further attacks on press freedom, undermining Nigeria's democratic institutions. Princewill Dike, a chieftain of the Progress Congress (APC), accused opposition political parties of misrepresenting Wike's remarks, which he characterized as a metaphorical expression rather than a literal threat.

Dike argued that the comments were taken out of context and were part of a broader strategy to discredit public officials and mislead the public regarding the Tinubu administration's performance.
