Meireer Education Foundation Hosts Essay Competition in Abuja

The Meireer Education Foundation commemorated the International Day for Education by hosting an essay competition in Abuja, aimed at promoting academic excellence and addressing educational inequities in Nigeria. The competition featured junior and senior secondary school students from across the Federal Capital Territory.

Senior students explored opportunities and challenges in technology education, while junior students examined the role of education in shaping responsible global citizens. A panel of judges, including Ms.

Fatima Anyekema, Ms. Chidinma Umahi Nwankwo, and Mr.

Ochanya Majesti Ochigbo, ensured a credible and transparent evaluation process. The winners included Inioluwa Jess Omotosho in the senior category and Favour Chima in the junior category.

The foundation's Chief Operating Officer, Vivian Ovi Whiskei, alongside other representatives, presented prizes to the winners. The event highlighted key issues in Nigeria's education sector, such as the shortage of qualified teachers and unequal access to resources, emphasizing the need for stronger collaboration to improve standards and increase parental involvement.
