Rector Cares Foundation Launches 2026 Water Essay Contest

The Rector Cares Foundation announced the launch of the 2026 Water Essay Competition aimed at secondary school students in South-West Nigeria, specifically targeting SS1 and SS2 students from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo states. The competition invites students to explore the theme of water-related disease prevention strategies and community education initiatives.

Following the success of its 2024 debut, which focused on water, sanitation, and hygiene, the foundation aims to expand participation across the entire South-West region. The competition will feature a three-tier prize structure, with a total prize pool of ₦1 million, including laptops and internship opportunities for the top three finalists.

Onyedikachi Eret, the founder of the foundation, emphasized the importance of engaging young people in water issues and fostering social consciousness. Submissions for the competition will close on April 30, 2026, and interested participants can find registration details on the foundation's website.
