Youth Hadith Memorization Competition Promotes Islamic Values

The Moham VI Foundation and African Oulema hosted a hadith memorization competition in Abuja aimed at promoting moral values among Nigerian youth. Directed by Dr.
Abdulganiyu Adetunji, the competition attracted 500 applicants from across Nigeria, with an online registration process lasting a month. Participants competed in three categories: memorizing 40 hadith with a chain of narration, memorizing 30 hadith with explanations, and demonstrating knowledge of hadith science.
The competition culminated in 15 finalists from states including Kwara, Kogi, Katsina, Kaduna, and Borno, who qualified for the national finals. Winners will represent Nigeria at a continental competition in Morocco, receiving cash prizes and certificates.
Dr. Abdulganiyu emphasized that the primary goal of the competition extends beyond prizes, aiming to instill a commitment among young Muslims to preserve Islamic teachings.
Barrister Haruna Moham noted that true knowledge involves understanding and practicing the teachings of the Qur'an and hadith, which are essential for building moral character and promoting peace.
