Pistis Foundation Launches Free Medical Outreach in Lagos

The Pistis Foundation commenced a five-day free medical and surgical outreach in Lagos on October 17, 2026, targeting 5,000 residents for treatment of various health conditions, including eye and dental problems. This initiative, known as the 11th Ubomi Medical and Surgical Outreach, is being held at the Pistis Annex and the Hospital for Trauma and Surgery in the Eti-Osa area.
Godman Akinlabi, Founder and Board Chair of the Pistis Foundation, stated that as of October 18, 2026, 1,717 beneficiaries had received care, with 57 eye surgeries and 48 operating-room surgeries performed. Since its inception in 2019, the outreach has reached over 22,811 unique beneficiaries.
Akinlabi emphasized the need for such initiatives due to the economic challenges faced by many Nigerians in accessing quality healthcare. Leonard Thomas, Executive Director of the foundation, noted that the outreach also includes follow-up support for beneficiaries.
The foundation plans to construct an Ubomi Medical Centre to extend its healthcare services beyond periodic outreach.
