Four Armed Robbers Sentenced to 10 Years in Kano

On Tuesday, July 22, 2024, Justice Adam Abdullahi of the Kano State High Court sentenced four armed robbers—Shafi U. Abubakar, Usman Suleiman, Sa Idu Ali Isah, and another unnamed defendant—to 10 years in prison each, along with a fine of N10,000.

The convicts faced three counts of armed robbery and criminal conspiracy under sections 97 and 298(c) of the Penal Code. The first count involved an attack on Abdullahi Musa at his residence in Bankaura quarter, Ungoggo Local Government Area, where they entered with a deadly weapon and stole valuables.

The second count detailed an attack on Abdullahi Musa, resulting in the theft of an Infinix phone valued at N50,000, a Tecno keypad phone valued at N5,000, a Lifan motorcycle valued at N700,000, and cash amounting to N800. The third count involved robbing Mansur Muazu of N201,000 and 500 CFA.

The prosecution, led by Barrister Ibrahim Garba Arif, presented two witnesses, while Barrister Basira Yunu represented the defense. The court found the defendants guilty, and their sentences will run concurrently from the date of their arrest.
