Lagos Court Sentences Twin Brothers to 14 Years for Robbery

On June 5, 2020, twin brothers Ojomo Taiwo, a driver, and Ojomo Kehind, a security guard, along with accomplices Emmanuel Bamidel and Peter Samuel, were sentenced to 14 years in prison for armed robbery by the Special Offences Domestic Violence Court in Ikeja, Lagos. The court's decision followed a plea bargain agreement that amended their charges from conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery, contrary to Section 298(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The incident occurred on May 5, 2020, when the defendants, using a blue 2005 Siena vehicle (registered number LSR 771 GG), approached their victim at gunpoint on Oshodi Bridge, dragged him into the vehicle, and assaulted him before robbing him of an Android phone, an iPhone, an ATM card, and N15,000 cash. The police recovered a double-barrel locally made pistol and four cartridges from the vehicle.

Initially pleading not guilty, the defendants later changed their plea to guilty under the amended charges on April 14, 2026, leading to the 14-year sentence instead of the original 21 years.
